Establish in 1998, David Phillips is one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK, being recognized in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100. The main service is the provision of furnishing products to the residential property market, where David Phillips excels through offering a range of tailored packages with next day delivery. With a base in London, David Phillips has warehouses throughout the UK and manufacturing operations in China and Hong Kong, it also services customers across Europe and Middle East.


Following the expansion throughout the UK, David Phillips needed an experienced Managing Director to oversee and develop the Operational side of the business. Stocking over 1,500 items and offering next day delivery, David Phillips really needed a professional with expertise in property, retailing and logistics.


Hunter & Chase were asked to undertake the recruitment for the Managing Director (Operations) position as they had impressed the David Phillips management with their consultative approach and their ability to network and research to find the type of candidate required.

After scoping the experience, qualifications and the personal attributes that the ideal candidate would have, Hunter and Chase started to search through their network using their specialist research team. After two weeks, a shortlist was provided to David Phillips, with one particularly outstanding candidate who had really impressed the Hunter and Chase team with his knowledge, enthusiasm and ideas on how to make his role a success. The David Philips Board interviewed several of the candidates and agreed with Hunter and Chase that the outstanding candidate was Gregor Sokalski, who was appointed following an in-depth interview and selection process.


Since his appointment, Gregor Sokalski has excelled at David Phillips and, four months after appointment, was promoted to CEO where he now oversees the further development and success of the business.
