Hunter & Chase Find UK Managing Director for International Luxury Brand

The challenge

A family owned international luxury brand business needed to replace the incumbent UK Managing Director due to internal promotion of the incumbent to a senior international position. In this very competitive business environment, the founder and global CEO needed a replacement who has experience in the luxury market, had relationships with Department stores across the country and was a real Retail expert. A key requirement was utmost discretion.

What we did

Hunter and Chase worked with the Founder and CEO to devise the most appropriate approach and quickly identified a hit list of individuals who are well regarded and successful at competitor firms. Discretion (even from current employees of the client was paramount), Hunter and Chase researched the right target companies in this industry and discretely approached individuals, to persuade those that fit the criteria to consider this opportunity, then interviewed all the executives while obtaining informal references on all.


This resulted in a long list of 14 executives, which Hunter & Chase – in conjunction with the client - reduced to a shortlist of four outstanding candidates for the role. Following second stage interviews and negotiations, one of the candidates was progressed to the final stage to meet with the founder and business owner. This individual was offered the position, even though more candidates were subsequently available. The client secured the services of a talented international executive with successful and proven retail experience, and at the same salary level as the individual was on at his previous employer. Hunter and Chase effectively outlined the strengths of the brand and the wider opportunity which the executive bought into.
